Faith Formation Classes and Programs

We are blessed to have a robust Faith Formation program at St. Mary of the Assumption!
There is something for all ages. Please see below for more information and links to our various programs. REGISTRATION FORMS for each program can also be found at the links below.

Each program has a donation that helps to cover the materials and offset the costs of the program for the Parish. Please speak to Ana Cardenas, Director of Faith Formation, if you are experiencing financial difficulties.  

Please note: it is a mandatory part of the program that parents attend formation classes at the same time as their children. The calendar for Parent and Adult Formation Classes can be found  here

REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
**At the time of registration, a copy of the Baptism certificate (or birth certificate, if not baptized) is required. 

• Pre-school/Kindergarten Program
  • The "Seeds" program is for children ages 3-6 years old that have not yet started first grade. 
  • This program is in English and prepares children to enter First Communion. 
  • This is NOT a sacramental preparation class.

• First Communion Preparation
  • The First Communion program is for Children in grades 1-6 who have been baptized and need preparation to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

• Confirmation Preparation
  • The Confirmation program is for children in grades 7-8 who have been baptized and who would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. 
  • **If you have a teenager in grades 9-12 who has not yet received their Confirmation, they may also register for this program. 
  • *Please note that the Cardinal has decided to lower the normal age of reception of the sacrament of Confirmation in the Archdiocese of Boston from around the age of 16 (or 10^th or 11^th grade) to around the ages of 13-14 (or 8^th grade).

• Christian Initiation (OCIA) for Children and Teens
  • The OCIA program is for children and teens ages 7-17 who are NOT baptized and would like to be initiated into the Catholic church by Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation.

• Christian Initiation (OCIA) and Confirmation for Adults
  • The OCIA program is for adults who have not been baptized or who have been baptized but have not received their First Communion or Confirmation. 
  • The Adult Conformation program is for adults who have been baptized and received their First Communion, and would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

• St. Mary's Youth Center
  • St. Mary's Youth Center is a Catholic after-school program for children in grades 3-12. 
  • Children and teens are welcome to join the program in addition to other faith formation classes they are taking.
